What is JK’s design philosophy of engineering in Far UVC down light?
UV-C light, with wavelengths between 200 and 280 nanometers, disrupts the DNA and RNA of microorganisms, preventing them from replicating. Far UVC lamp emits the key wavelength of 222nm which is proved to be safe to the skin and eyes. It is a most recent innovative and break-through UV technology which provides an opportunity of application when people are present. With the post-pandemic period coming, people pay more attention to the indoor air quality and preparation of the next pandemic. JK’s vision of providing our community with safer and greener environment reflects the corporate mission of safeguarding people’s health. - What types of far UVC luminaire does JK offer?
In line with the existing indoor atmosphere design, JK offers recessed far UVC light, ceiling and pendant Far UVC light, hybrid light (UV+visible) lamp for various applications.
Most of JK’s far UVC luminaire can be in the modes of UV only, visible only or hybrid and optionally dimmable in UV.
- Is it safe to use JK’s in occupied room?
Yes, the far UVC luminaire emits the key wavelength of 222nm which does not penetrate the outer layer of eyes and skin. So it is safe to use in occupied or unoccupied area.
- Does it generate any harmful by product?
No. While the ozone meets the international standards, It does not generate any other volatile organics.
- What is the final result of using far UVC luminaire?
It inactivates 99.9% of pathogens in air and on surface.
- How many far UVC luminaire do I need in my room?
Normally one unit of luminaire will cover an indoor area of 10 to 15 square meters. However the quantity of luminaire may be required as per the real situation. JK will provide a professional computerized simulation layout of far UV luminaires upon request.
- How to install the far UVC luminaire?
The luminaire is assembled in plug & play type. They can be installed in the same way as those regular LED lights.
- How to turn on/off the far UV luminaire?
By turning on and off the switch on the wall. The same as regular lights.
- How long can I be exposed to the far UV light?
The far UV luminaire emits pure and filtered wavelength of 222nm which does not harm the eyes and skin, therefore they are safe to human being even at long-time exposure. JK’s engineer will tell the maximum allowable daily exposure time as per the installation height and UV intensity as per the allowable daily UV exposure TLVs. Generally, it is safe to be present under JK’s far UV luminaire in eight to ten hours a day.
The UV light is invisible. How can I justify if the far UV luminaire is operating?
There is a red dot in the middle of the luminaire, which is lit on when the luminaire is operating. However it is not recommended to stare at it for a long time.
How can I know that the far UV light emitted from the luminaire is safe to my eyes and skin?
The pure wavelength of 222nm is proved to be safe to skin and eyes. ACGIH or ICNIRP sets up the thresh hold value (TLVs) of UV exposure which is the allowable maximum exposure dosage in eight hours daily. Some of our far UV luminaire are also dimmable as per the installed height to provide the right dosage not more than those set TLVs. Please follow JK’s operation manual for safety tips after the luminaire is installed. The safety is key difference between the far UVC (222nm) and traditional UVC (253.7nm).
How to maintain my far UV luminaire?
The only maintenance is to clean and remove the dirt on the lamp surface to ensure the output of UV light with soft lint-free cloth or Isopropyl alcohol wipes every three to six months. Make sure that the power of luminaire is disconnected and wait for 15 minutes until the lamp is cool down before cleaning.
When and how to replace the far UV lamp?
The lifespan of far UV lamp is 3000 hours or one year under normal condition. A normal light bulb appears light pink during the disinfection cycle. If you notice that the bulb is starting to fade or there are dark patches on it, please contact JK and follow JK’s instruction to replace the lamp.
What is the power consumption?
Generally the power of far UV luminaire is 5 to 20 watts. If it operates for 10 hours a day and 0.5 dollar per KWH, it costs o.o5 to 0.1 dollar.
Is it environmental friendly?
All material and components of JK’s far UV luminaire are reclaimable and re-useable without mercury and harmful metals. It can be recovered as per the regular electronics.
Where can I use JK’s far UV luminaire?
They are perfect for almost all indoor area such as healthcare setting, office, school, lab and other high traffic area.
